Mystery solved...

It wasn't exactly a mystery but remember when I was on holiday and Pierce and I went to see Jennifer Lopez's new movie and I couldn't for the life of me put a name to the sitcom of the actress who played Jennifer's grandma? The actress was Linda Lavin (I think I put Lanvin in the post) and she played a waitress. Well I was out with 1/3 of Noah's Ark this morning at CB, my walking buddy Susan. She has the 3 mini poodles Starsky, Hutch and Miley (and all gorgeous though Starsky is in Ruby's bad books because for some reason he took a real and I mean REAL shine to her today...need I say more???!!!). I hadn't seen Susan since before my hols so we had a lot to catch up on but one of the first things she said to me was 'Alice' ... the name of the sitcom!!! Does anyone remember it? I think...and maybe Susan can help me on this one too...Hal Holden was in it too but then I have been known to make things up lol.
I'm meeting with my friend Marlene tomorrow. She became a grandma for the second time at the beginning of April and this is the card I made for baby Will.
I've said before that I really love these Penny Black stamps...there are 5 in total with the little bears holding their blank cards in different poses. I made a card for Will's big cousin Oliver last year using these stamps and from what I hear the card is in a frame in Oliver's room :-D

The bears take little effort to colour and the card was pretty quick to make. My favourite kind lol.

That's me for tonight. Hope you had a good weekend and the coming week is stressfree!

Epoxy Dots & More!

I had a bit of time last night before I took Rocky and Ruby for their last walk...I was really tired from all the late nights so I wanted an early night...so thought I'd give my website a quick tidy up. Not so quick was my tidy up. It's like when you think it's a great idea to clean out a cupboard which leads to another then another then another and before you know it you've got everything all over the place and you've made more of a mess than when you started! Two hours later and not the early night I planned I had my website looking the way I wanted...or so I thought. I was thinking about it on the way back from CB with the dogs when I realised I got all my categories back to front and I'd have to start all over! That's me just finished...I hope. I've got the buttons on there and now I've got these gorgeous epoxy dots...
As usual my photographic skills have let me down so although in the picture the dots are pretty they don't really show just how pretty they are. They are 10mm and come in packs of 10 of one colour. They will look fab in the centre of flowers. I don't have a lot as I wanted to see how well they sell but if they prove popular I can get them pretty quickly.
I've also got some gorgeous nailheads on the website. They've all got a lovely subtle etched pattern on them. Don't get too alarmed when you see the pictures of them...remember these are closeup's so it makes the pattern bigger than it is. There are silver, gunmetal, brown, pink, light pink and black and the sizes range from 4mm to 6mm. You have to see them IRL to appreciate how pretty they are. Again they'll look great in the centre of flowers and dress up corners. I'll be making up samples using all the new embellishments and I might even spoil you by giving you a sneak peak at the new images that will be coming out soon!

Buttons buttons buttons

I've had such a busy time since getting back. I had a deadline for an advert going into Craft Focus which was for last week but because I was away they extended it for me until yesterday. I managed to get 4 sample cards done and sent everything off and today was catch up with housework :-(
I thought I'd start showing you some of the goodies I bought in Dubai which I'll be putting on my website. I don't know about you but I LOVE buttons...especially gorgeous coloured ones like these...
Looking at them reminds me of candy and makes me want to eat them! They are 12mm and there are the five colours you see above...orange, yellow, pale pink, bright pink and my favourite....olive green. They'll come in packs of 25 buttons of each colour and a pack with 5 of each of the colours. They will be perfect for the middle of flowers with a bit of twine tied in a knot or bow :-D
Tomorrow I'll show you some more of the goodies I found.
Hope you have a good weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Turn up the heat!

I'm home!!! We arrived back on Scottish soil yesterday afternoon. As usual the pilot came on the tannoy describing the flying conditions and the weather in Glasgow. We were quite hopeful when he said the skies were blue but then he spoiled it by saying it was 8 degrees...that's only a tiny drop of 30 degrees from what we'd been used to lol. Of course by the time we did land the blue skies had disappeared and it was oh so cold. After wearing very little for two weeks I was really loathe to start wearing sweaters, hats and gloves again! To make things worse it started hailing a couple of hours ago so who knows when summer will be here.

We had a great time chilling and doing nothing. The weather was glorious bar half of one day and another full day. I managed a trip into old Dubai with my friend on Saturday and found some new products that will be making their way onto my website...hopefully by the weekend. I'll let you know when they're on.

I've spent most of the day finishing unpacking and loading up the washing machine which of course only means one thing...ironing!

I've a lot of catching up to do and will try and get some cards posted tomorrow. I noticed my visit counter reached 20,000 hits this morning so a big thank you to those of you that have taken the time to visit me :-D

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's day mom...I love you...

Thursday, 6 May 2010

Hello! Pierce and I took advantage of the clouds and rain yesterday to hop on the monorail and take a trip out to the Atlantis hotel at the top of The Palm. I think everyone had the same idea because it was pretty busy...I've got pictures but they don't want to upload for some reason.
Today was a gorgeous day and we chilled out on the beach. I'm on my 7th book with 2 to go...I tend to buy books throughout the year and then take them on holiday. It's the only time I get to read...I don't dare start a book at home because everything stops/late/burnt until I finish it!
We went to the movies tonight. They have a gold club at one of the cinemas...you pay a bit extra for it but you get huge (could fit 2!) leather seats that recline and when you first go in you order your popcorn/candy/drinks/nachos/chicken dippers/salads, go to your seats and they'll bring it to you! I took off my shoes, reclined my chair and got all comfy and watched the movie...it was like being in your own home. We saw Jennifer Lopez's new movie Back Up Plan which was pretty good...it had it's moments! The guy in it was pretty cute but I didn't know who he was. There were a few golden oldies from the past...Tom Bosely who was Mr C in Happy Days (he looked about 100!) and Linda Lanvin who I remember as a waitress but can't remember what sitcom she was in...can anyone help me out on that one?
Another gruelling day on the beach tomorrow then on Saturday my friend Karen (she lives here) and I are going into old Dubai for some shopping. Last day on Sunday and volcano permitting we'll be back home just after lunch on Monday.
Thanks for stopping by. I'll try and get some pictures up later.

Paper Lane

I've enjoyed the first few days of my holiday lying on the beach doing absolutely NOTHING! But I started to get antsy and figured today was as good as any to find this scrapbook store I stumbled across on the internet last year.
After breakfast I got a taxi to Paper Lane ... about 15 minutes from my hotel...how handy lol. It's not what you would expect as it's actually a villa but apparently here in Dubai it's very common for people to rent villas as business properties. I felt like I was walking into someone's house!

I wanted some of the girls who work at Paper Lane to get in the picture but they all ran away so I ended up in them. You can tell I wasn't expecting my picture to be taken!

I'm not sure what I was expecting but they have all the up-to-date lines of paper...Basic Grey, KI, Making Memories etc. They had lines of BG that I hadn't seen before so I had to indulge in buying some. They had a wall of thickers, shelves of Prima flowers, Tim Holtz distress inks, Bazzill....

In this room they have the Nestabilities, Martha Stewart punches, Sizzix, Inkadinkado stamps Boss Kut dies...you name it Paper Lane have it. The girl that ended up helping me was called Ruby! Is it fate or what???!!! All the staff were lovely and hopefully I'll get a chance to go back before we leave.

This is the same room from another angle. They have a classroom upstairs and I would have loved to have taken a class but because they're moving to new premises later this month all the classes were re-scheduled until after the move.
It's getting late and I need to get ready for dinner. Hope you all have a lovely May long weekend and stay safe whatever you do.
