Happy Monday

Hope you all had a great weekend in the sun. It was glorious here though this morning we were back to normal..rain! But since typing this up the sun has started to peek through :-D

It was my good friend Annette's birthday yesterday and I set about making her card. Yeah I know...I'm late but remember...late is my middle name!! I saw a sketch on Mary J's blog yesterday that I really liked and decided this was a great start. I set about mooching through my papers...boy I've got a lot...and after half an hour or so made my decision. I then cut all the cs and pp ready to put through my sewing machine..chose my image and figured I was good to go. I was progressing really well...few blips with the sewing but nothing I couldn't handle. Colouring was coming along too though wondered at times if my pink wasn't quite right (why do we do that to ourselves??) When I finished the colouring I had a realisation that Annette had used the same image for my birthday card last year...do you think I can get away with 'great minds think alike'??? Assembly was easy peasy and then I hit a brick wall...I didn't like it!!! No matter what I added it just wasn't coming together the way I'd hoped. I decided to walk away from it and start dinner. In between cooking I'd pop back into my workroom and see if I could learn to like it...nope. All the way through making my lasagna I thought about the card (anyone else do this???) and a couple of ideas came to mind. Straight after dinner I put my ideas to work and 'ping' I loved it!! It took me most of the day but I got there in the end. Here it is...let me know what you think.

I used Birthday Nikki..one of my favourite stamps :-D On one of my many trips back and forth somehow I got some ink on the image just below Nikki's foot. Still can't work out how that happened since it certainly WASN'T there when I left it the first time hmph.

I 3'd'd the pink present...this was one of the things I tweaked

and this was the second...adding the sentiment up the side of the image. It's funny how little things like that can make a difference between not liking something and loving it.

My pink felt wasn't quite right with the pp so I used Bazzill for the imperfect flowers.

Happy Birthday Annette...I hope you like your card...you'll get it on Saturday :-D

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

The Paper Shelter - Anything Goes
I{heart}2Stamp - A Sketch For You To Try
Catch The Bug - Four Layers Or More

That's it from me...have a great Monday.

Catch ya later x

Hi Kerry

Wow, this is gorgeous!! I just love Nikki's dress.
Those flowers are so pretty and the 3D pressie is a great touch.

I always struggle with where to put the sentiment, my biggest frustration with almost every card I make. Your sentiment is perfectly placed.

I hope that sun keeps shining for you!!

I like this, especially the papers, and I am going to try 3d-ing my images. Your cards are always amazing and it's good to know other people make mistakes with their creations. Look forward to your next post, Gaynor.
